Drawing Our Future: Media Arts with the Wacom Cintiq

My Project

Our students are bold, imaginative, and eager to explore. They come from diverse backgrounds, and many are encountering media arts for the first time. They’re excited about visual art, design, and technology, and express themselves in ways that connect traditional art with modern digital tools. We need tools that bridge the gap between traditional drawing and digital creation. That’s where the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 comes in.

This professional-grade drawing tablet with a high-resolution screen allows students to draw directly on the surface with incredible precision, just like they would with pencil and paper, but digitally.

It integrates seamlessly with industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender, which we're beginning to introduce in our STEAM curriculum.

Students will use the Wacom Cintiq to:

* Design original digital illustrations and concept art

* Explore character design, game art, and motion graphics

* Create posters for student-driven interests, issues, and events that reflect their passions. (Sustainability Awareness Month, Student Government, etc)

* Collaborate on digital media projects across STEAM disciplines

This will be a shared classroom tool, used in rotating studio stations, giving all students hands-on experience with professional-level media arts technology.

We are transforming our visual arts program into a full-spectrum media arts studio. This aligns with our school’s mission as a newly launched STEAM magnet school, where science, technology, engineering, arts, and math come together in real, creative problem-solving.

With access to the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16, students will gain early exposure to tools used in animation, digital illustration, and game design—fields with growing career opportunities. Your support will help spark the next generation of artists, designers, and creators.
