Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I public school in a multicultural diverse community. Each student is offered the opportunity to free breakfast and lunch as well as various other free services. Our school is one of seven high schools in the city, and our student population is about 2,000 children.

My students need sketch books to improve upon and grow their drawing skills.

They are eager to learn new ways to be creative and to use these art tools and techniques in other areas of their lives. My students want to learn, and, most importantly, they need to experience the skill of applying the knowledge that they learn in school to their everyday lives.

My Project

In the creation process of expressing oneself, it is important to record and look back upon references and brainstorming ideas. My students would love to have a place of their own where they can record their feelings, ideas and illustrations. My students would benefit so much from having sketchbooks to record, practice, write, draw and express themselves. They want something to be proud of, something they will be able to work diligently on, and something which provides the opportunity to go back and visualize the growth of their progress and learning. The sketch books will be used every day for multiple purposes, but, unlike a textbook, students will be able to cherish the creating process and all of their hard work and effort for years to come.
