Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students in my art classes would love to try new things and use new materials! Art is a hands on class and requires materials and supplies to create and get the students engaged. Once we use these materials that's it and we need more to refill, replace, or just new things to experiment with! My students are very receptive to the projects I plan for them in this class but it would be really great to get a variety of new materials that they could use to create and express with.
I believe art classes are vital to students expanding the way they think, building confidence, and expressing their thoughts and feelings.
With the age of Common Core upon us, CREATIVITY is key! I hope to continue to inspire and ignite their minds and way of thinking through art. Some students have told me that the only reason they even come to school is because of their elective classes. That is huge in getting a student here and going to ALL classes. Being able to make connections with students through something they enjoy is a beautiful thing.
My Project
I want to push my students creativity beyond just flat surfaces. Getting them the 3Doodler Pens will allow them to create 3D sculptural work and learn how to problem solve with structural integrity. They will be able to create 3 Dimensional sculptural pieces and can submit work to local art shows. With these pens they can literally think OUTSIDE the BOX! The bones will allow them to draw from life and really study closely.
Drawing from life is a hard skill but this will allow them to practice and strengthen their drawing muscles!
We do a lot of still life practice throughout the year and having interesting objects for them to set in front of them to study will allow for variety.
