Drawing, Folding, and Crafting: Accessing Arts in the Library!

My students need more art books that interest them: origami books of all sorts, drawing books (both animals and comics), and other books offering hands-on arts and crafts projects (bracelets, paper jewelry, and the like).

My Students

Every day, students visit my library either with their class or on their own, before school and during lunch. While many different kinds of books interest them, I always have a crowd making a beeline straight to my Art section.

Many students eagerly pore over my origami and arts books, eager to create new and intriguing works of art.

They enjoy creating folded sculptures using just their hands and a sheet of paper. Sadly, I don't have enough books to keep up with the student demand.

While my students love art and would enjoy engaging in crafts as well, our school isn't in the most affluent part of the city. While my students love to create, they don't always have the opportunity to do so.

My Project

My students enjoy hands-on arts and crafts activities. Books on drawing, origami, and other such books are in high demand among my students. The demand far outstrips my supply of material, though.

My students want to draw, create, and develop their skills in the arts.

By providing more books, I hope to both expand access while increasing the depth available to students with more experience in these. Kids like to make art, and I want to provide them with the opportunity to do so.

By providing more books on art projects and crafts, more of my students will have the chance to develop their artistic abilities.
