This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Theatre, like society, is ever changing. It is important for my students to be able to receive up to date materials that they can use in class and in theatre competitions. Many of the theatre materials we have are falling apart with age and it is necessary to replace them with fresh material.
My students are amazing young adults who strive to achieve their highest goals despite the struggling economy.
They continuously find ways to participate in the community and in school and give back to those who have helped them become successful. My students attend this public school because of our diverse arts opportunities including major main stage productions, theatre competitions and well rounded arts education.
My Project
I am asking to update my theatre library with materials that are up to date. These materials will give my students diverse opportunities to participate in the class with scenes and monologues that they have not seen or done in the past. We have a hard time getting access to these materials because of the cost and this will mean so much to my students. Some of this material will also be used when we attend theatre competitions and will give us an edge over our competitors. Students will be able to learn how to direct, act, design with these books and also learn why teamwork and determination is important.
The opportunities that these materials will provide are endless and can be used for many years to come.
