My Project

Young children develop cognitive skills through imaginative play. All of my students have a communication delay, so I want to be able to use this dramatic play table to build language experiences and give the gift of language to my students. We have small manipulatives and seasonal small toy items, but no area to properly store items and no table for interactive play.

Dramatic play has incredible benefits in early childhood education!

Early learning and early intervention are essential to give our young students the ability to successfully communicate. These additions to our dramatic play center will allow our children to act out experiences and follow directions. Children are motivated to communicate their wishes to their peers and therefore must learn to speak from the perspective of their pretend roles. My classroom has a range of disabilities: vision, hearing loss, Down syndrome, and autism. These students need hands-on activities to learn and provide the early interventions that make them ready for kindergarten.
