My Students

My Pre-K students are from all backgrounds. They attend our Title I PreK, Monday-Friday for a half day. We are in a diverse neighborhood with students of many different cultures that attend Pre-K. Our school services PreK-5th grades. We have over 400 students in our school. Many are free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch students. Our Pre-K services the neediest students in our community.

Despite the many challenges my students may face, they are eager to learn.

They love school and can't wait to see what we are learning and doing each day.

My Project

My students need a new dramatic play kitchen set for our classroom. The one we have is two pieces and is very old. It is unstable and one of the cabinets tipped over in the classroom. The baskets will be used for food in the dramatic play area.

Experts agree that dramatic play is integral in early childhood education.

It relieves tension, helps children find their power, and builds social skills. My students desperately need this kitchen to make the dramatic play center safer and more inviting. I can see their excited faces playing with this great new addition to our Centers. I know that this will increase their learning through pretend play and social play.
