This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a dual-language classroom in a Title I school district. This means my students all come from Spanish-speaking homes, and most of them come from poverty. My students are trying to learn all the objectives that the state requires them to learn at the same time that they are trying to learn a new language.

My students are eager to learn but need many hands-on materials in order to understand better.

Providing these materials is essential in my bilingual classroom.

My Project

One of my students' favorite learning station is our Dramatic Play center. They love going there and without them realizing it, they really practice many skills that they need at this age like oral language skills, fine motor skills, Math skills and Literacy skills.

Unfortunately, many times we lack the funds that are required to obtain new materials in order to create many different dramatic play areas.

These materials will be an opportunity to create several different dramatic play areas. They will be able to be chemists, designers, builders and many other things. The cubbies that I requested will be an excellent way to keep all these different materials organized.

The dramatic play areas in any PK classroom is very important because they help develop essential skills that they need in a fun, stress free environment!
