This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are full of joy, excitement, and an eagerness for learning. I have so much fun teaching and learning with them. Our school is 92% economically disadvantaged and 79% English Learners. My class is a diverse mix of students, including English Learners, students receiving special education services, gifted and talented students, and students from around the world.
My students have unique personalities, and they're all very sweet and caring toward others.
They work well with others who are different than themselves. Thank you in advance for helping me provide the best educational experience for my very deserving students.
My Project
With these new materials, my kindergarten students will be able to learn the 4 main coins (quarter, dime, nickel, and penny). They will be able to practice counting and writing their numbers, foundational skills to financial literacy. They'll also be able to apply their learning about wants vs. needs and expand their vocabulary by role playing at our dramatic play grocery store.
Watercolors will provide a fun, new way to practice writing their numbers, and the animal and butterfly counters will allow students to practice counting accurately.
They will be able to use coins in a real-world scenario at our dramatic play grocery store. I take pride in creating a classroom that my students look forward to coming to everyday. Thank you for helping me make that possible!
