This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Calling all thespians! At ACLA middle and high school, we are excited to begin our third year of an after-school musical theater program. While our focus has previously been to do one production a year, this year we are expanding, and want to work on a variety of dramatic exercises and techniques even after our February production is finished. In order to make this new challenge a great success, we need resources! I am asking for a variety of books that cover every topic in theater, from acting techniques to careers in the industry. In addition, I am asking for a number of monologue and scene books to give us material to work with once our large production is done. These books will allow our students to develop their acting chops in all genres, and will also teach students the technical jobs involved in a theater company. I am hoping these books will guide us in writing our own show, which will hopefully commemorate the opening of our new auditorium in the fall of 2011. Although our school serves a low-income population, it is very important to us that the students are exposed to as many different activities as possible; giving them every opportunity available to do whatever it is they dream. Please help us expand their world through the dramatic arts – you may be supporting the next Broadway star!
