Help me give my students some headphones for our LEXIA pilot! LEXIA is a program that helps students fill in gaps in their literacy. Students need headphones to be able to complete the tasks they are assigned.
I am an 8th year classroom teacher with 10 years of experience teaching acting and drama before getting certificated. I my BA in Theatre Arts (Acting Concentration) and I have my Masters in Education with a Secondary Certification (endorsed in Theatre and English Language Arts).
I have been trying since I started teaching at my current school to get a drama program started. We had not done a play for 20 years before last year! I am now working on our fourth play in the last two years (A Midsummer Night's Dream) starring 7th and 8th graders. We are preparing students to grow as artists and humans.
As a freshly burgeoning theatre group, we are desperate for sound equipment! The microphones and stands would help us to make sure we are able to project in our gymnasium! We are very interested in continuing to grow the program to reach its full potential. Right now, everything is very grassroots and I am paying for most things out of pocket.
Finally, we are requesting a classroom set of headsets so that my ELA classes can improve their literacy skills (which are shockingly low.) The headphones allow them to work on those beginning reading skills by hearing the sounds and instructions read aloud. Unfortunately, our headphones have mostly broken, so we are really in need of some new ones.
