The students at V..E.S. are 100% free or reduced lunch, and the majority participate in the Blue Backpack Program (sending food home for the weekend for hungry children). My school is a very diverse school with: 60 % Hispanic, 13% African American, 22% White, & 5% American Indian/Alaska Native. There is a lot of instability, inconsistency, and trauma in these students' lives. These students are very transient and hop from school to school. However, they love to come to school, and learn.
Dr. Suess brightens everyone's day with it's bright colors and catchy phrases. With this project my room will be all decorated in Dr. Suess materials. The Alphabet Chart will catch the children's eye and interest with its cute pictures and phrases Also include is a calendar which we will use every day to learn the days of the weeks and months. One of the most exciting materials are the ELA charts that will help me teach phonics to the students. These chart help the students visualize what I am trying to teach them.
The rest of the materials are to motivate and reward the students to be successful.
All kids love to dig into a treasure chest and see what they can find. This makes school fun and enjoyable for the students.
Thank You so much in advance for blessing my students.
