My kindergarten students love school! They are learning to share and work together. They are working on social skills as well as academic skills. They are happy to share their thoughts and feelings. For many students, this is their first experience going to school.
My students are excited about learning!
My kindergarten class is a diverse group with a variety of learning needs and challenges. Many of our students cannot afford basic school supplies. My kindergarteners are enthusiastic learners. They are excited about reading, writing, and math. They enjoy making new friends and learning about the world around them.
My Project
Each year in kindergarten we celebrate Dr. Seuss for a week. Typically this is during Read Across America week. During this week we read a variety of Dr. Seuss books.
Each day we have a new theme to match the Dr. Seuss book we read.
Some of our more popular theme days are bring a stuffed animal, career day, and pajama day. Students get to be fully immersed in the theme for the day by reading the book, dressing up, and completing an activity after reading the book.
Dr. Seuss books are fun for students and adults alike. The books are fun for students to listen to, but they are also learning about rhythm, rhyme, made up words, and fiction stories.
