Downside to Portable Classroom

My students need book bins, a mobile library cart and a listening station. I'm in a portable that needs to be packed up every year. Books are getting ruined as are bookcases not on wheels.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Parra's classroom raised $582

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my children to have access to literature. Being in a portable is not easy and furniture needs to be mobile and easy for them to access.

Reading is key.

If you open up their minds to variety of books, they realize they can go anywhere! I am proud to have a gigantic collection of books to satisfy all readers and levels, but no where to store them safely and easily. I have been in a portable for 13 years. Each summer I have to pack up my room ENTIRELY and then unpack it again in August. All on my own time. I don't have a lot of storage space. Furniture on wheels would make life much easier!

My Project

With receiving the leveled bookcase, students will be able to easily choose books at their reading level. The listening center piece of furniture will allow them easy access the listening center books and materials. Students visit the listening center in order to hear stories read fluently. Also at 7 it gives them access to stories that they might not be able to read on their own. Giving students easy access to leveled books, will allow them to choose books quicker and therefore have more time to read!!!!! It will also save me from having to box it all up at end of school year and then unpack it again in August. All of this furniture is on wheels so it can be easily moved out of the room. The current furniture I have is falling apart from being put on dollies to move out of the room.

A library is like the best person you know - politely quiet but endlessly informative, amazingly knowledgeable but charmingly discreet, open to everyone yet subject to your every whim, and, sadly, flammable if one isn't careful.

Be careful with yours. - Lemony Snicket Love this quote!!!!
