My Project

Playdough helps develop fine motor skills by building hand and finger strength and dexterity through actions like rolling, squeezing, and poking.

This increased strength and control prepares children for daily tasks such as cutting, writing, and manipulating small objects like buttons and zippers.

Playdough also enhances hand-eye coordination and bilateral coordination (using both hands together), and its pliable nature makes it an ideal and accessible tool for various fine motor activities.

Develops Dexterity and Control: Activities like rolling, pulling, flattening, and poking the dough require precise movements, which improve the dexterity and control children have over their fingers.

Enhances Hand-Eye Coordination: When children look at what they are doing with the playdough and then use their hands to shape it, they improve their hand-eye coordination.

Promotes Bilateral Coordination: Tasks like rolling playdough with both hands together develop bilateral coordination, the ability for both sides of the body to work together symmetrically.

Practical Benefits for Future Skills such as Writing: The hand strength developed through playdough is crucial for the fine muscle movements required to hold and control a pencil when writing.

Cutting: Playdough activities like cutting with plastic knives build the hand and finger strength necessary for using scissors.

Dressing and Daily Tasks: The dexterity learned from manipulating dough helps children with functional tasks like managing zippers, buttons, and using utensils. The items being requested will benefit our students in so many ways in addition to helping keep the playdoh in selected areas to help keep the classroom clean with mats.
