My Students

My first grade students in Pittsburgh are from a low income neighborhood where 90% or more of the student body receives free lunch. Many come from single parent households and have families who struggle every day to make ends meet. These parents do the best they can for their children.

The children spend their time in my class absorbing all they can about the wonders of math and science!

It warms my heart to hear the children share their love of learning. I want to give them every opportunity to explore, experiment, and create with activities and projects that will make learning exciting and fun. I believe that if I expose my students to a variety of experiences, they will continue to embrace math and science.

My Project

It’s been pretty difficult handling all the responsibilities of the classroom and I’m thankful for distance learning to keep us all safe. I would love to be able to work and see all my children’s faces at the same time! With a second computer monitor and camera, I will be able to offer my students so much more of myself and the lesson! Being able to utilize my entire space with the use of the camera and having the monitor to multitask will be wonderful assets for my in-home classroom and online students.
