Double Down on Real Time Learning

My Project

My students are continuing to learn in an online setting. Each year I seek to improve the conditions of their learning. This past year, that meant making sure that every student had a good set of headphones for daily use. This coming year, I want to give each student a document camera substitute that will make it easier for them to show me their work.

Holding up a dry-erase board or angling a computer screen are two ways students have been attempting to share their handwritten work with us in our online classroom.

While these strategies are helpful, it isn't the best solution. When I saw the simplicity of these mirroring devices that fit over the camera of the Chromebook, I immediately knew that students would benefit tremendously by having one. The low cost point makes them a perfect tool for distributing to each student who will be using them remotely during class. I believe these will be a game-changer and one more step toward leveling the playing field for students who are still learning online. Attaining teacher proximity is a difficult task but these tools are sure to aid in the task.

It is also important that I make connections with my students by sending them postcards at the beginning of the school year. Using fun metallic markers to add a special pop of color and excitement will surely grab their attention and set the tone for the exciting learning coming their way.
