My Project
I'm a music teacher, and I teach all the kids at my school. I have hundreds of students and sometimes we need to write things down. Using paper is difficult in my classroom. I have to use a lot of paper and sometimes students need to start over. I don't use desks, so I have to have something hard for students to write on. Paper ends up being folded or ripped or even thrown around as a paper airplane! I prefer having white boards and expo markers because it saves paper that would likely get thrown away or crumpled in the bottom of a backpack.
Whiteboards allow students to make mistakes and completely erase their mistakes whereas paper often keeps some of the marks of the pencil.
Being able to erase cleanly is essential for creative work because students need to be able to quickly and easily change their minds to let their creative juices flow. Giving my students the ability to start over without getting a new paper is truly the easiest solution.
The white boards I chose have a music staff on the back so that I can teach my students to read and write music. Music staves are hard to draw and staff paper is expensive especially when you are needing to practice over and over.
Having a music staff already available gives students the start they need to be able to compose new music. The egg shakers will give them the opportunity to play their new rhythmic compositions on an easily played instrument.
