Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Every child is gifted, they just unwrap their packages at different times." (unknown)
My students have extremely diverse learning, physical, medical and sensory needs.
Our goals are always to meet every child at their individual level. We come to school every day ready for a challenging adventure together! A lesson plan is always in place but we are always ready to shift the plan to meet any child's emergent needs. Special Education is about daily flexibility and adaptation. We focus on the many ABILITIES of each and every student even when the lists of DISABILITIES are seemingly overwhelming.
My Project
Consumable art supplies are ALWAYS in high demand in an early childhood special education classroom! Dot paints, are especially our classroom favorites. They allow my children with special needs to easily use adapted grasps and create masterpieces. Art and sensory tactile lessons incorporate social interactions, speech opportunities as well as encourage fine motor exploration. Art is an essential building block in early child development. Within these lessons, we still expose them to the core academics of; language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
We like to encourage as many “ta dah” moments as possible!
These special moments allow a special connection to develop among friends and they can share in each other's success!
