My students come from all around, but many, 86% are on free or reduced lunch. In science, we are learning about Geology, Biology and Evolution, and Electricity. We focus on a number of skills that relate to STEM. But a big focus is also working on developing the whole student, social and emotional learning and those soft skills.
My students are developing into the future leaders of America.
We are making sure they are able to communicate effectively to their peers, collaborate with others even through adversity and disagreement, and think independently and creatively during the problem-solving process to come up with modern innovations to solve the world's problems. I love my students and want to empower them with all the necessary skills they will need to succeed as we approach the 21st century.
My room is getting very comfy and cozy and now I'd like to finish the room out by adding a couple reclining chairs that will add just a little more seating and allow me to comfortably fit 20 students in my desks and chairs.
The students really appreciate the new feel of the room, and I know two more chairs, of a different composition, would really finish the room off.
I can't wait until the room is all the way finished!
Lastly, all data and research continues to show that classrooms must change and evolve as our students have. We cannot keep our education system staying the same for these last 300 years. So we can definitely make changes to our seating as a start!
