Help me give my students access to paperback copies of the National Bestseller Dopesick by Beth Macy. I want to expose them to America's decades-long struggle with opioid addiction through the study of this nonfiction work.

My Project

My students are on the journey to earning college credit through their AP English Language and Composition class. This class does not have a specific textbook, so access to high quality non-fiction works is a must have in order to be able to analyze at the college level required of this course.

Exposing them to real-life situations, helps to broaden their horizons.

This book is just one way I am planning to challenge my students this year to step out of their comfort zone and learn about subject matters that may not directly affect them, but are a serious matter which affects our society.

My students are eager learners who are open to enriching themselves and are compassionate to other people's struggles. I want to use this book as a jumping off point to rich discussions where my students can become informed about a topic and make educated decisions on their own. I want them to learn to argue their side with facts and not just opinions.
