it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A Donut Shop Day classroom transformation will provide my Title I, language learners, and refugee first-grade students with a highly engaging and immersive learning experience that caters to their unique needs. By transforming the classroom into a playful, donut-themed environment, students will be motivated to participate actively in lessons, which can boost their interest in academic tasks. This theme will allow for fun, hands-on activities that reinforce key literacy, math, and problem-solving skills, making learning enjoyable and meaningful.
For my language learners, and refugee students who may face challenges like limited access to resources outside of school, this creative classroom environment offers equitable opportunities to engage with the curriculum in new and exciting ways.
Activities could include counting and sorting donut stress balls to enhance math skills, reading themed stories to build literacy, and role-playing as donut shop workers while wearing donut party hats to foster social skills and cooperation. This fun, sensory-rich experience will promote a positive classroom culture, help students make real-world connections, and ultimately support their academic growth and enthusiasm for learning.
