My Project
I teach in an urban 2nd grade classroom. My students are enthusiastic learners who are also creative and curious. My classroom includes students who are English Learners and those who have special needs. More than half of my students are socio economically disadvantaged.
They love books and books can help manage feelings.
We can build a sense of community through books and enjoy reading with each other.
This project will help fund getting supportive books about anxiety into our classroom. These books will allow my students to be more engaged and learn about people who are like them and also different than them. Positive supportive books can offer reassurance, build empathy and teach kids strategies for coping.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
