My Project

My Life Skills classroom currently serves students with moderate to severe disabilities in grades 9th to 12th. The students have either intellectual disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder. All students we serve have a low socioeconomic status. The goal of my life skills program is to prepare them for independence when they leave school. Teachers are not allowed to print in color. All color copies must go to the principal to print. This is not an efficient or effective way to print when I need to print in color every day.

The printer, ink, and laminator will be used on a daily basis.

Lamination will aid in keeping materials/color copies protected for years to come. In my self-contained Life Skills program, the students benefit from items printed in color to differentiate and make items easier to identify. I create several task folders in which students match items. To do this I need color copies and then I laminate them and add velcro to the back for matching. I have hundreds of matching folders and task boxes for everything from coins, food, fractions, street signs, and jobs. Having a color printer and laminator would be an amazing tool I would utilize daily to assist my wonderful students in their learning journey!
