Don't Take a Vacation From Reading!!

My students need books, storage bags, and stickers to give our Kindergarten students a Summer Vacation Surprise! A new book in a decorated storage bag will go to each young Blue Devil at year's end.

My Students

Our Service Learning Program is a class designed to allow Seniors to gain authentic experiences through service to others within our community. Our examination of contemporary societal issues helps to aid in my students' understanding of their society.

My students are 12th graders who want to change the world.

By choosing to be a part of this program, my Seniors have pushed themselves outside their comfort zones for the benefit of their community. By giving back to their community, they are giving themselves valuable experiences to carry with them beyond high school.

My Project

The supplies we have requested in our project will allow us to give back the important gift of reading to our youngest Wickliffe Blue Devils. The selected books will distributed to our Kindergarten students to keep at the end of the school year. The 12th graders will write a note in each book to encourage our kindergartners to keep reading this summer. The storage bags and stickers will allow Seniors to decorate a book storage bag for each student to keep this book (and any other books) protected.

Through our service learning program, my Seniors have seen firsthand the extraordinary benefits that our Elementary students have received by the literacy enrichment they have performed. This project allows my students to fulfill a fundamental need for our little Blue Devils--being the best reader they can be and learning the LOVE of a great book!
