I get to work with some of the most creative, original, humorous, socially conscience and hard working kids! Our middle school performing arts program draws kid from a variety of backgrounds and with a wide range of skills. My classroom is full of all types of students, not just your typical "drama kids." My students are outgoing athletes and shy musicians, perfectionist scholars and class clowns, kids with resumes and absolute beginners.
The self confidence of the young adults in my class grows exponentially throughout the year as they learn, through theatrical production, that what makes them different is what makes them powerful.
My Project
Tape may not seem like a very exciting donation, but it is vital for my students to perform safely and without damaging our school. As we do not have the luxury of an actual theater, we must build our theater from the ground up in the gym.
By giving my students gaff tape and masking tape, it will ensure that they can place wires, speakers and microphones in the places that are best for the performance.
It will ensure that the facility is not damaged for the students that use it next. Additionally, the masking tape will help students label their costumes and take ownership of their performance wear.
