Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Accidents happen, but they should not stop our kids from learning! Among the many things that an elementary school child learns, using a public restroom is one of them. Maybe kids don't ask for permission to use the facilities with enough time, maybe they have difficulties with understanding when they need to go, maybe they are having so much fun learning and playing that they forget to listen to their body's needs... whatever the reason, urinary (and other) accidents occur.
Although we ask parents to pack a change of clothes in their child's backpack, if an unexpected accident occurs and none are available, we resort to asking parents to drop off a change of clothes promptly. Students aren't sent back to class with their soiled clothing which means they can miss valuable classroom time as they wait for their parents to deliver their change of clothes.
Donations to this project are now being matched, thanks to support from Valhalla Foundation. Valhalla Foundation's goal is to dramatically improve kindergarten readiness and academic achievement in the U.S., so that all children—and particularly low-income children and children of color—get off to a strong start in learning and life.
