My Students

My students are truly amazing. This incoming group of children are going to be, by far, the best class I've ever had! They are passionate, thoughtful, kind, and deserving. They are creative and wonderful participants. Our neighborhood has a mix of ethnicities, cultures, and income levels, so each child has something very special to contribute. These children LOVE to learn through being active!

I have many students with special needs this year.

They require extra support to be successful, which is extremely difficult with budget cuts and minimal resources. I teach in a low-income, Title I school, where 100% of the students receive free lunch and breakfast. Despite this, my students love being at school and are so eager to learn! Distance Learning will prove to be a challenge, but we are all ready and excited to embark on this new adventure together.

My Project

Starting out the school year with Distance Learning will be a challenge! My students, many who are from our surrounding low-socioeconomic neighborhoods, don't have the math materials they need to learn at home. In order to be successful, my little first graders need 10 frames, counters, number lines, and number blocks to do hands-on learning alongside my virtual lessons. Children cannot learn online alone - they need tangible items to move and manipulate! This will allow the lessons to be much more interactive and exciting, as well as solidify math concepts for all students, regardless of skill level. Also, there are some added stickers and treats for fun!
