Let us not forget the arts! This project will bring the arts into the classroom so the students can explore the arts and find the SMATH (Science and Math) within their work.
My students are 5th graders who love math, science, and the arts.
They are high achieving, hard workers who will appreciate the benefits this project has to offer. Our school is an A school and has students and parents who value education, put their education first, and totally support the teachers.
My Project
This project consists of multiple resources. The students will be provided pictures of artwork of famous artists, and I will have several books to use that are filled with important art history. Students will also have aprons to use for art and science. Lastly, there are art materials for origami, calligraphy, and scratch art projects. These resources will bring arts to life in the classroom. With the project, students will be able to learn about art history, see many famous artists' works of art, and have some materials to do several art projects. From the art history, to the pictures we will receive, to the materials they will be able to use, to the math and science connections, these children will love the arts integrated in their lessons.
I met a very wise man this summer in the airport.
He shared a quote with me and expressed the need for children to have art education in their schooling years. He said, "Don't forget the Arts!" as we discussed teaching math and science. This led me to write this project and to think of ways to integrate the arts into math and science lessons on a daily basis. Please help bring this to life for my students!
