This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the best job in the world! I have the privilege of working with 20 Pre-Kindergarten students who come to school every day with a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world they live in. It is my privilege to use their inquisitiveness to help prepare them for the world that we live in, a world that requires strong language and communication skills.

I start each school day with heartwarming hugs and smiles from 20 Pre-K students.

Although my students are a diverse group of children who come from all types of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, they share a universal love of learning. Every day, my students visit different learning centers. At the conclusion of center time, students verbally share with the class what they have learned thereby developing their oral and expressive language skills. I would like to strengthen these skills by providing the students with real wireless microphones that will make their sharing time fun and exciting!

My Project

It is never too early to begin developing strong communication and public speaking skills. Consequently, I would like to give my Pre-K students real microphones and a PA system that will make it fun for them to develop their expressive language skills.

Every day, my Pre-K students give oral "reports," much like news reporters, where they use pretend microphones to share with the class what they have learned, accomplished and/or plan to work on in the future.

The children love giving their reports, and I can only imagine how excited they will be once they can communicate their messages using real wireless microphones just like the journalists they see on television.
