Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My scholars are excited about learning. They enjoy real world experiences. They are enthusiastic and look forward to all of our in class projects and trying/creating new things together. They work hard to complete lessons so we can celebrate our learning afterwards.
My Project
We will use these materials in the classroom to help connect their learning experiences to those in the novel, Esperanza Rising, which we are currently reading. These materials will be used to make yarn dolls like the one in our story. Each scholar will also use the cross stitch materials to create a stitching to take home with them as an end of unit project. This project will serve as a culminating event. They will refer to metaphors found throughout our text and make the connections. The goal is to experience and better understand the metaphor of “Mountains and valleys” as well as not being afraid to start over.
