My Students

A typical day in my 1st grade class is very busy! We cover a lot of different subject areas in a short amount of time. It is very important to keep them engaged so we make the most out of our instructional time!

This year, I have 22 awesome students in my classroom!

They are extremely smart, and they work very hard. I work at a Title 1 school in a small town. We were named a 2012 Reward school by the state of North Carolina. This was accomplished by our hard working students! Everyone at our school collaborates so that the students get the best education possible. I love my students and my school!

My Project

In my classroom, I currently use two trapezoid shaped tables for my guided reading groups. The only problem is, when I have a full reading group (six students) the students are squished and do not have a lot of space. Their books and homework bags are on top of each other, and it can be hard to keep track of their materials. This table will be used in my classroom every day for reading instruction.

This project will give my students their own place at reading group!

They will have room for all of their materials, and won't have to worry about elbowing one another. I feel that this project will greatly benefit my students. They will be able to focus more of their attention on their reading, and less about how much space they have.
