Dolphin Math

My Students

My students are inquisitive, knowledge-hungry third graders who love to create art while learning new concepts and skills. My students come from diverse backgrounds. Our school is located in the heart of Honolulu with many students who attend our school from all over the world. We are a Title I school with a high population of ELL (English Language Learners) learners and students receiving free or reduced-price meals.

My students are engaged when art is used to make learning fun and meaningful with other content areas.

My Project

Students will use the Boogie Board to show their thinking in math during our math block. They will be able to work out the math problems and save trees at the same time. Because the Boogie Board does not take electricity, students will be able to reuse the boogie board over and over again easily.

The Boogie Boards will be used by both the teacher and students during small group math instruction.

They will also use it during Math iReady computer time to help them get to their answers. Best of all, they will be able to use it over and over again without using paper, thus saving the trees.
