Dolls and Dialogue

Help me give my students the ability to see themselves in not just the stories we read but the images within our classroom. Dolls and books that reflect black history are needed in our second grade classroom.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Morgan's classroom raised $262

My Students

My students may come from meager means, humble homes, and fractured families, but they come eager and excited to learn. My Title I school houses students K-8 and provides each and everyone with not only breakfast and lunch but a classroom that serves as a home.

They are not just my students, but my family, and each year I am lucky enough to begin a school year with new members.

While my family continues to grow, their needs continue to be met with proper support and dedication.

My Project

Within my classroom are books, illustrations and a variety of visual representation that reflect the children that I teach. It is extremely important for my students to see themselves in the material we use to learn and the environment in which they learn in.

With the addition of these inspirational figures and texts to accompany each, my students will not only be able to hear about these historical black women, but see a physical representation of who they were.

My students know that our class is a family and our classroom plays an important part in our learning process. I want my students to always feel safe, comfortable and represented without our classroom walls.
