My music students are curious, brilliant, and passionate learners! They are eager to explore and create and would greatly benefit from the addition of drums into our classroom instrument collectioin. This would broaden their scope of learning about and enjoying music immensely! One of the most exciting ways for a child to experience music is through DRUMMING!
We are working on building an exciting collection of instruments.
Our school is only 10 years old but growing by leaps and bounds! With this growth comes the need for new and exciting instruments. Tubano drums would be the perfect addition for our music classroom!
My students LOVE any day that we get to experiment and learn with instruments, but I can tell that they are getting a little weary of the same ones day after day. They will be so grateful for this new option for creating through drumming!
My Project
I am very passionate about this project! I titled it Dollars for Drums and Dreams because my students can now only dream of what it would be like to participate in a drum circle with quality tubano drums. I want to change that! With the drums that we receive I would like to begin having drum circles with my students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We currently have ZERO African drums to use as part of a drum circle as we are a fairly new school (open just 10 years) and are still building an inventory of quality musical instruments.
My students LOVE playing on the hand drums and other percussion instruments we already have in class, so I am confident that their excitement and creativity would skyrocket with the addition of 6 tubano drums to our instrument collection.
Tubano drums will facilitate composing, performing, improvising, and rhythmic fluency in my students. We will implement proper African drumming technic as we learn how to play and experiment with these drums.
