This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are wild about learning both conceptual and computational math skills.

We are excited about math, especially after our teacher attended a wonderful conceptual math training with Rachel Mcanellan, Ms. Math.

We're learning to take notes in math and use our notes when working both in the classroom and at home to help us understand conceptual skills alongside computational skills in math.

My Project

We greatly need and will use "Real Fake Money" with bills in denominations of 1s, 10s, and 100s to learn place value as well as various strategies for all four operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Having the manipulative materials will help us develop a deeper understanding of math concepts.

This project will make a difference by helping students move beyond computational skills, or simply learning an algorithm to solve a problem and move towards understanding conceptually what they are solving in math.
