Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students from a Title I school will be able to purchase the prizes with Dojo dollars earned through the classroom incentive program. The program awards them realistic-looking play money (Dojo dollars) as incentives for doing good work and behaving well.
For example, if a staff member compliments them or tells me of a good deed they performed, they might be given 20 Dojo dollars.
They can also earn dollars by doing their homework, doing well on quizzes, or helping a classmate.
Twice per month, the Dojo store will open on a Friday afternoon so that students can purchase prizes and other privileges such as lunch and a movie. They will also develop organizational and business skills as they will be responsible for setting up the store and will take turns as the cashier.
