Doing Math Like Rock Stars

Help me give my students meaningful math experiences. New chromebooks will complete my set so each child in my class can use one. The DropMix gaming systems will bring music to my math lessons to engage my students.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My kids are just like everyone else--they love to play and they love animals, but these kids especially love horses and rodeos. They're definitely all-American kids. They know the meaning of hard work, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Some of these kids don't have easy home lives, and it's all I can do to get them to school. These kids are truly special and they deserve the best I can offer them.

I try to make my class a place where everyone feels safe and happy.

I will do everything I can to help these students maximize their efforts and be successful. The parents and community have been very helpful and supportive. With your help, we are on track to become even better.

My Project

Technology is necessary in today's math classroom. My students need Chromebooks for inquiry-based learning. They will use simulations to discover math concepts, use graphing software, and participate in online lessons.

What better way to engage students in learning math than with music?

The DropMix music gaming systems will provide a fun avenue to bring students math problems. They get to be rock stars while checking to see if their math answers made a hit song. The game puts together a song mix of vocals and various instruments providing a myriad of possibilities for me to use it with math groups.

My students and I are excited to take our math class to the next level. With your help we can get there.
