My Students

Each day my students begin with a school pledge to strive for excellence. They are living in a low income area where resources may be scarce. My students are encouraged to dream big and strive for excellence. With hard work and time, they know they can achieve their goals.

My students are spectacular given some of the challenges they face.

They are living in an impoverished area and many are living in single parent households or under the care of a guardian other than their biological parents. Our district and school has undergone budget cuts and it can be difficult to find resources that allow our students to have the same advantages as students in other districts.

My Project

The students crave and need feedback from both their teacher and their peers. A document camera would allow us to share student work and projects. Students can have and deserve feedback. They will receive praise from teacher and peers. They will also receive ideas on ways they can improve upon their ideas. This collective work on a regular basis will help all students not just the ones whose work is on display. Another use for the document camera is to allow the teacher to share and model for the students. Some students need to see a visual of what the teacher is describing. A document camera allows the teacher and students to model and share in a timely manner.

Having a document camera would push our classroom closer to the 21st Century.

My students will have to compete with students around the world who may have more access to technology. Students need to see models and receive praise, feedback and critiques from their teacher and their peers. Providing feedback for a student's work helps to ensure understanding and allows opportunity for support when there is misunderstanding. This more immediate response will help all students grow and learn.
