My Students
Our sixth grade is comprised of 130 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Thriving in an ocean of opportunity, on last year's end of grade test, the shark team showed remarkable academic growth, regardless of demographics. In fact, several of our learners made grade level proficiency in Language Arts and Math for the first time in several years. We need your assistance as we swim toward the shore of academic success.
My Project
As we wait to hear from the NC Senate about returning to school in person, our teaching team has been brain storming on how our teaching practices will need to, again, evolve to meet the needs of our students. Having access to a new MacBook Pro would allow each teacher in our team to record lessons and share them on my Canvas page for all of my students to access. When we return in person, not all of my students will be with us in the classroom so we want to make sure that everyone is still getting the best education possible.
With a new MacBook Pro, we can record, edit and run programs simultaneously with my iPad.
My current school computer has seen better days and, often, the fan is so loud that if I do any type of recording on it it's very hard to actually hear what I'm saying. Having access to another laptop would ease the burden on my current school laptop and give me the ability to meet the needs of both my virtual and in-person students.
A new MacBook will give my students the ability to watch our lessons anytime, anywhere making sure that no one is left out of our daily learning. It will also create an opportunity for my students who might need to re-watch instructions or hear something and or give them the ability to do so whenever needed. When we're back in the classroom, the MacBook Pro becomes an amazing learning tool in my teaching tool bag.
