My Project

Our project focuses on creative problem-solving using clay to create bobbleheads. Students will design and create custom bobbleheads out of clay, with each student choosing a subject that reflects an aspect of who they are—whether that’s a self-portrait, a favorite animal, or a fictional character.

A bobble in motion stays in motion: by working with clay, students will engage in hands-on, tactile learning, developing their problem-solving skills through sculpture.

Students will need their thinking caps for this one! Not only will the bobbleheads need to be personal, and have an aesthetic appeal- they will also need to BOBBLE! Students will experiment with the shape of their bobblehead's body and head as well as the stem (or neck) the head bobbles on, exploring balance and gravity and Newton's First Law of Motion.

Once the bobbleheads are formed and fired, the students will glaze them, enhancing the personality and showing off the creativity behind each piece. This process will allow students to learn some technical aspects of ceramics while they experiment with color and design.

The final bobbleheads will be displayed, creating an interactive and personalized art gallery that celebrates the uniqueness of each student. To bring these ideas to life, I need funding for clay and glazes. This project is designed to foster creative problem-solving and skill-building as well as promote a sense of pride and belonging within our classroom community. Your generous support will help provide the necessary materials to make this vision a reality, giving my students the opportunity to create meaningful artwork they can be proud of.
