My Students

My classroom is a technology lab for two hundred K-8 students in rural Illinois. Over the past three years, we have been building a STEM program to get our students involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We have spent a large amount of time learning about programming.

My students will be studying and documenting the destructive forces of the tornado that came through their town in November 2013, and documenting the rebuilding of the town since then.

These tools will help them bring their project to life!

My Project

My students will be using this camcorder and microphone to interview residents and video tape their hometown. The town was severely impacted by a tornado in November 2013. My students will be collecting images and video of the area before the storm, recovery efforts, and today to show the growth and rebuilding of their town. They will also be interviewing residents.

The video, data, and images that my students collect will be highlighted on a website and on a customized Google Map that they create themselves.

This project will benefit my students as well as the community now and in the future.
