My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to our virtual classroom each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration! They are enthusiastic about diving into learning, but do not have the necessary tools.
A document camera and laptop will increase my students' enthusiasm and engagement.
The document camera will be used for math, science, social studies and literacy. With this document camera, my students could view charts, various websites and real world working problems in real time during the lesson. My visual learners would benefit a great deal and it will allow modeling while social distancing.
As a teacher, even in the presence of the issues that manifest because of their needs, this raw curiosity is the most critical and beautiful element of their education. Their desire to question and probe into everything is what drives their learning process. That is what makes it exciting to teach!
My Project
Both the document camera and laptop will allow the students to show mathematical explanations, literacy documents and presentations on the document camera while practicing public speaking, a much needed twenty-first century skill. It also allows students to demonstrate learning and create a more student-centered classroom. The laptop will allow for me to show them the world outside the confines of the school building. While working from home, both the laptop and document camera will allow me to share presentations and work with students in real time; which are both necessary in the real world.
