Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Since this is an unprecedented year, our Kindergarten team of teachers are trying to make our remote teaching experience as beneficial and effective for our young group of students. We teach Kindergarten at a title 1 school in the South Bronx. As teachers, we want our lessons to come across as clear as possible for our students. Without the proper materials, we are struggling to bring our lessons to life!
Our principal, the teachers, and the entire school community have turned our school from a "failing" school into a school on the rise.
Many of my our students come from incredibly challenging homes. One hundred percent of the school receives free lunch, and many of our students live in homeless shelters, foster homes, etc. Our school runs a food pantry for our families and also provides many students with backpacks filled with supplies. Despite these challenges, my students love to learn. This year is challenging enough for our students, help us fund these materials so we can make this school year as great as we can!
My Project
These document cameras will help our Kindergarten team of teachers really bring our lessons to life! Document cameras are an extremely important tool for teachers to use because students can see lessons clearly and really understand what is being taught to them. Without the document cameras, it is very hard to multi- task our lessons. Students have a great opportunity to do more hands on learning with their teachers with these cameras. We believe students will really grow and adapt with the lessons we are teaching if we have these cameras!
