This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our building are some of the best kids you'll ever meet. We serve grades Pre-k to 4th. Our school is located within an urban school district, with a large number of our students coming from high poverty homes, and 100% of our students receive free lunches.

A majority of the students in our building are classified as English learners (ELs).

This year, like many other schools and districts across the country, we have started our school year virtually. This process has been interesting but incredibly overwhelming, to say the least. Families have really stepped up and are working overtime to make sure their kids are getting logged on to learn.

My Project

These document cameras will be used to enhance instruction for the hard working EL students in our building.

Due to COVID, teaching has become so much harder - especially engaging students and keeping them focused.

Without having students in our classrooms we have had to find new ways to present lessons. Many of our lessons require us to model writing or project practice pages. This is increasingly difficult without a whiteboard or a document camera. Having a document camera could improve instruction and help us better serve our EL students.
