My Students

We all know how frustrating it is to be in a meeting and not be able to see what the speaker is talking about. Imagine if that was how you felt everyday when your teacher was explaining how to do something.

I teach in a lower-middle class district.

At least 35% of our population is on free and reduced lunch. We have limited resources and are managing to do the best with what we have. We have a strong parent support system and lots of volunteers. What we lack is funds! Our kids have the basics (for the most part), but our district as a whole lacks technology. We have no air conditioning and usually blow fuses because we run so many fans!!!

My Project

I am requesting an ELMO. It is a document camera that will allow me to show students how to complete assignments. Students will be able to see what I am talking about when I say "Write your answer in this box" or "Draw a Venn-diagram here". It would also be very useful when I want to show a diagram or picture in a book. It is difficult to teach when most students are unable to see what I am doing. I use my SmartBoard when I can, but there are so many times when I just need to magnify the paper I am using. An ELMO would allow the students to follow along with me visually as I present a lesson.
