This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When I introduce a new skill, strategy or concept, it is sometimes very difficult for some of my students to see as they can be far away from the front of the room, the board or me. Sometimes, they even huddle up around me when I am trying to show them something so they can get a better look.
My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.
Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. My students' parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have books, puzzles and other educational toys at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with a wide variety of learning tools. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantage, but not enough to provide every classroom with all the "extras" that they need. In fact due to all the budget cuts, we are running very low on essential supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and even multipurpose paper.
My Project
I would like to use this document camera to allow better visual access to tasks, and strategies that I am demonstrating before asking my students to engage in them. I would like to have the ability to guide my students in the text by putting the book directly up on the document camera. I would also like to use the document camera to display student work for evaluation by the class as well as using the draw features to highlight, underline and write on documents that are displayed. Using student work, we would work together as a class to grade and improve student work. In addition, I would like for my students to use the document camera to share their writing work. I hope that in sharing their work using the document camera, that they will enhance their speaking ability, presence and self confidence.
Document cameras are a great tool for teachers.
They allow teachers to guide students with their work more easily, create more discussion, interaction, and maintain students' attention. The classroom document camera is an amazing tool that will allow my students to have a more dynamic and interactive classroom experience. Please help by donating to our project. Thank you!
