My Students
As a Math teacher in a South Brooklyn school, some of my students have more resources at home than others. As a sixth year teacher, I think it is imperative that my students all get equal opportunity to do well on their assignments. Despite the many challenges some of my students might face, I am looking to keep things interactive and simple. I want to provide my students with the resources they need to succeed in my class and in life.
My students come from various cultural backgrounds, I want my online classroom to be a place where we learn from each others differences.
When students enter my online/in person classroom, I focus on their potential and their growth. Having a new printer and supplies will give students the opportunity to be a part of our ever growing community. By using google slides, zoom, interactive resources, and other media students will visualize and interact with each other in our digital world. Having a working printer is essential in this field and it would be the utmost benefit to my students.
My Project
Document cameras are essential for math instruction whether it is at home or in the classroom. They give us teachers a way to model for the students so they can see exactly what we are doing. It also gives the students the opportunity to share their work with the rest of the class. A scientific calculator is also beneficial for the students because we can use it to model our mathematical process. We are requesting ink for our worksheets to use for the class as well as for the document camera.
Some other materials being requested are also beneficial for our classroom such as the paper towels for sanitizing the desks.
Students sometimes eat in the classroom and it is important to keep everything safe and sanitized. Having paper towels will ensure we are keeping safe. A paper shredder will ensure that our documents are being tossed out safely. Other items include a necessary wire for our technology and plastic cutlery for the students if they need it for their breakfast/lunch.
