This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I left my classroom, I thought it would only be temporary. Connecting with my students in the first two weeks after schools were closed was difficult. Many of them didn't have access to internet, while others were having trouble connecting the internet to their Chromebooks. The internet is now available to the majority of them. Although most are connected and are logged into different learning platforms, we continue to have connectivity issues, but we do the best that we can.

The most difficult part of remote learning is not being able to do live lessons that will engage my studentsand give them some sense of normalcy.

Many have questions on how to solve particular math problems, and it is difficult to help on my computer screen and "write" with the mouse pad. I feel like it would be most beneficial for students to see a problem solved step by step.

My Project

During these school closures, I want to be able to help my students as much as possible. We didn't expect to be closed for the remainder of the year. They took their workbooks, but many of the workbooks are not interactive online.

If I can do step-by-step math problems, reading, and writing with them during our live meetings, they will be more engaged.

I will be better able to help out those students who need the extra support with a document camera. More time will be spent teaching and learning and less time troubleshooting.
