My Students

My wonderful junior/senior high students of are being supported via tele-therapy for their speech therapy services. I work with students that have unique and specific needs in the areas of articulation, understanding, speaking, social skills and speech fluency/stuttering.

By using a document camera, I will be able to give students access to real materials that can support learning and creativity, by working and practicing in real-time, via video feed.

Presenting videos and other 2-d worksheets has been successful but limited in real time opportunities for practice.

While there are many wonderful pdf and online resources, the practice of trial and error leads to opportunities for success!

My Project

I never imagined that I would find myself remotely teaching from home, and that my students would be learning new material through video conferencing calls and recorded home videos. We are charging forward and looking at it as a learning opportunity for all!

The Ipevo digital document camera serves as a tool that I can use during teletherapy meetings to share real-life, hands-on lessons that allow for trial and error as compared to YouTube videos that show a completed and accurate process.

Of course, I started with the more affordable option to just use my own cell phone and a tripod stand. After trying that, I found my phone was overheating after one (30) minute therapy session! So that option didn't work well.

Having the opportunities for providing lessons and activities with a document camera will enhance the learning experience for my incredible students.
